The “P. Tacchi Venturi” Civic Art Gallery in San Severino Marche is one of the richest and most significant art collections in the Marche region.
Housed in the 16th-century Palazzo Manuzzini, the art gallery was founded in 1974 to preserve and showcase works from local churches and convents, many of which saved a heritage of extraordinary beauty from being scattered.
The collections trace the city’s artistic evolution from the 14th to the 17th century: Paolo Veneziano’s Polyptych, Allegretto Nuzi’s Madonna of Humility, the masterpieces by the brothers Lorenzo and Jacopo Salimbeni—pioneers of the Florid Gothic style—and the works of Lorenzo d’Alessandro and Vittore Crivelli reflect the ongoing dialogue between local culture and the major Italian artistic centers.
Today, the art gallery is closed to the public, but it is undergoing a major restoration and redesign project.
