The Civic Museums of Pioraco represent a microcosm of the region’s history, where nature, work, and human ingenuity coexist in harmony.

The sections—Fossils, Archaeology, and Paper and Watermarks—offer an experience that combines science, art, and tradition.

The beating heart of the museum is the Paper and Watermark Section, which brings to life a tradition that has been part of Pioraco’s heritage since the 13th century. In a reconstruction of a medieval fulling mill, visitors can watch handmade paper being produced firsthand, using techniques that have remained unchanged over time.

Rounding out the exhibition is the Archaeology section—currently under construction—which features artifacts from the Bronze and Iron Ages, as well as exhibits dedicated to the material culture of the region.

The Civic Museums of Pioraco are a place where nature meets culture, and where the town’s artisanal heritage continues to serve as a source of identity and pride to this day.
