The Alta Valle del Potenza Museum Network
The Alta Valle del Potenza Museum Network brings together the municipalities of San Severino Marche, Castelraimondo, Pioraco, and Sefro, distinct territories united by a shared identity shaped over the centuries by the Potenza River. In this landscape, where art, history, and nature intertwine, the Network gives voice to a cultural system that tells the story of the valley’s many facets: archaeology and ancient history, the traditions of paper-making and electricity, rural life, folk customs, and artistic masterpieces.
The Network’s mission is to preserve and promote this heritage as a living expression of the communities that inhabit the area, by promoting
the culture as a driving force for renewal, cohesion, and shared identity. In an area deeply affected by the 2016 earthquake, the Network works to strengthen the bond between people and places, promoting sustainable and mindful tourism.
Its work is grounded in inclusion, accessibility, and participation, so that everyone can experience culture as a collective endeavor. Museums thus become welcoming spaces, open to dialogue between the past and the present, where cultural heritage becomes an opportunity for learning, sharing, and development for the entire community.
The Municipalities in the Network
The Territory
The Alta Valle del Potenza is a region shaped by the river that gives it its name—the Potenza—a source of life and history that has always shaped its destiny. Its waters flow through the region, connecting hills, villages, and valleys into a single harmonious landscape. While the landscape of Castelraimondo, with its tower and rows of grapevines and olive trees, reflects the care and balance between humanity and nature, the valley is home to natural wonders such as the Canfaito beech forest, the Sefro woods, and the Li Vurgacci trail, where the river becomes art and movement. It is a place where water unites the past and the future, identity and development.
The Team
The working group of the Alta Valle del Potenza Museum Network brings together expertise, passion, and a shared vision.
The team includes administrators, municipal officials, museum experts, and technical staff from the municipalities of San Severino Marche, Castelraimondo, Pioraco, and Sefro. It is a close-knit group that works together to protect and promote cultural heritage, coordinate activities, exhibitions, and events, and strengthen collaboration with schools, associations, and institutions.
The Management
Since 2023, the Alta Valle del Potenza Museum Network has been led by Dr. Federica Galazzi, an archaeologist who earned her bachelor’s degree in Archaeology from the University of Perugia and her master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Bologna. With over twenty years of experience in the cultural heritage sector, she works with museums, municipalities, and cultural heritage authorities, and also serves as director of the Archaeological Museum and the Via Flaminia in Cagli.
She has collaborated on projects focused on accessibility and the digitization of museums, including the exhibition “Traveling with the Warriors,” which won the National Inclusion 3.0 Award and the International Award for “Inclusivity and Sustainability” in museums at F@IMP2025—the ICOM-AVICOM Festival of Innovative Museum Audiovisual and Multimedia Productions.
Through her work, she promotes collaboration among institutions, territorial cohesion, and community participation, with the goal of creating a cultural heritage that is accessible, inclusive, and sustainable.
